IPKA Fellowship FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What is the duration of the Fellowship?
The Fellowship is scheduled to end December 15, 2025. It can be as long as from the date of selection to this date or a shorter period of time as arranged for and identified in a successful proposal.

  2. Am I guaranteed a residency?
No.  This is dependent upon timing and availability. If you are interested in this option reach out to the Fellowship Administrator to coordinate further after becoming a Fellow.

  3. I am an established artist who earns the majority of my income from my Art. Am I eligible for this Fellowship? Yes, provided you intend to use the Fellowship to increase your skill sets and capacities as an artist as opposed to using the funds to continue or fund your current work. This could look like focusing on a medium of art that has not been your focus previously. It could also include a clear demonstration of how this Fellowship can contribute to your ability to be a full time artist after the Fellowship period. There will be a preference for proposals that demonstrate how the Fellowship will provide professional growth potential towards becoming a fulltime artist. However, this does not preclude established artists from applying.

  4. Are there possibilities to extend the Fellowship beyond December 15, 2025?
No. The Fellowship officially ends on December 15, 2025. If you anticipate not being able to complete the work identified in your proposal and submit a final report prior to or by this date, you need to obtain approval of a modified proposal and work plan from the Fellowship Administrator, prior to this date. Failure to do this may result in forfeiture of a final close out payment for the Fellowship, which could constitute up to $10,000 of forfeited funds.

  5. What happens to my application form after the IPKA Fellow is selected?
The selection committee does not assume responsibility for the return of the application or supporting documents. All applicants are advised to retain copies of their application forms and not to submit irreplaceable documents or other materials. Applicants interested in re-applying for the following years IPKA Fellowship must complete a new application package, adhering to all requirements and deadlines.

  6. Please explain more about the funding for the Fellowship?
The IPKA Fellow will receive a stipend (taxable income) of approximately $20,000. Funds are distributed $10,000 at time of Fellowship selection and completion of a Fellowship agreement and $10,000 at the completion of the Fellowship. Funds that are deducted from the last payment may be advanced to Fellows to reimburse for approved Travel Reimbursement—see Travel Policy in the Fellowship handbook. These advanced funds distributions will be made in coordination with and at the discretion of the Fellowship Administrator. Any funds that have been advanced the fellow will need to be repaid if the Fellowship is not completed as agreed.
